My 4th
Reflection during MMSEL Class
Developing interest in learning activity during SEP
To create successful learning
process we as the educator should get students’ attention first so that they
focus on the topic and learn everything easily and happily. Despite that we
must construct students’ prior knowledge before they get the new topic, in
order they do not confuse with the new topic.
To
construct students’ prior knowledge in SEP, I used a song because it contextual
into students’ daily activities. Almost every single day they sing a song. Due
to that to construct prior knowledge in learning ‘TENSE’ during SEP I asked
them to sing an English favorite song.
After
singing, I tried to relate a lyric to ‘Present Form’ (the topic that we
discussed) step by step until students understood how to relate tenses with our
daily lives. When they had understood that there were relation between songs
and ‘Tense’ it will increase intrinsic interest in learning process.
No
matter the topic that I taught in SEP, I always used ‘opening session’ to hook
students’ attention and prior knowledge on the purpose they will learn the
lesson straightforwardly and fulfill my target i.e. there will be useful,
meaningful and purposeful learning process.
