Climate Variable

As I reflect on my previous experience study in high school, I knew that why sometimes I felt bored in some subjects. It is because the teacher did not create positive climate variable that should considered in. Now, I know that teaching is not only providing the activity and required materials, but also creating atmosphere that motivates students to learn.  There are four variable to create positive climate variable that are order and safety, challenge, and task comprehension. 

Order and safety refers to climate variable when students feel comfortable and safe to learn. Success is also climate variable that teacher should create student’ self-efficacy, where the teacher should give opportunity to students to participate during the teaching learning process. The successful class happened when students might be involve in teaching learning process, so then all of the class might contribute their opportunity in learning.

Furthermore, challenge is also climate variable where teacher should challenge students by giving task. Giving challenge also would increase students’ motivation in achieve their goal. Then, the last is task comprehension. Teacher is needed to explain the goal and aim of the leaning. If students know the objectives and the reason why they learn, then the learning will be meaningful for them.

As I reflect on my teaching experience in School Experience Program ago, there is no all aspect of those climate variables when I taught. However I think I have applied order and safety and challenge. Before I taught the lesson I showed them the lesson objectives and the agenda, so then they knew what would learn.  Moreover, when I taught I found that the students enjoyed the learning and felt comfortable in the class. Besides that, I provided some reading comprehension and exercises to check whether they understood or not. It would challenge them to answer the question by reading the text. Then, they also should identify the generic structures the text.

From this experience I realize that being a teacher is challenging, it because teacher should responsibility in all aspects in a life. However it is not too difficult but it is not too easy.
