Classroom Climate

Tropic, sub tropic, oh wait, I do not want to talk about that climate. What I write here is a classroom climate. To make our learning and teaching activity success, we should make a positive classroom climate. There are four variables of classroom climate; order and safety, success, challenge, and task comprehension.

I have an experience with not-so-good classroom climate. I felt bored and not safe to ask a question and to give opinion. Therefor, my motivation to be in that class is vanished and made me skipped that class for many time.

In conclude, positive classroom climate can increase students' learning motivation.

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

The second meeting of MMSEL course discussed about Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. It tells about human needs which is divided into two, deficiency needs and growth needs.
Deficiency needs include survival, safety, belonging, and self-esteem. These needs is a must to be fulfilled. If we do not fulfill survival needs, we can not move to safety and higher needs. It must be fulfilled sequentially.
The growth needs or we can call it as self-actualization is the top of human needs. This is the never-ending stage since there is nothing that makes human satisfied. Human always needs more. For example, John is good at football. He and his team won the regional championships. However, he still trains hard because he want to win national championships.

Self-Motivation

In the first meeting of MMSEL course, we talked about self-motivation. Motivation is invisible yet able to feel. It is a thing what encourage us to do something. There are two kind of motivation; intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic motivation comes from our own selves while extrinsic motivation is given by others.

With a high motivation, people try to achieve their goal. For example, Bunga is not good at English, but she really wants to get A in that subject in school. Therefor, with a high motivation, she studies hard and asks to her friends to know everything that she do not know about English.

This course discuss many things about motivation throughout this semester. However, I am not so motivated in writing reflective journal.
