Reflection MMSEL’s Project
“Kamu Bisa Jadi
Apapun yang Kamu Mau”
The Incredible
Motivation Project
This
course already brought me to another incredible experience. My groups and I
were really excited during our implementation project. Our project titled “Kamu
Bisa Jadi Apapun yang Kamu Mau”. We came up to this idea because we want to
motivate and inspire children to believe in themselves and be brave to have a
dream. Our project was really simple but I am pretty sure that at least they
were happy and learnt something from this project.
We conducted this project on Sunday and we were so
surprised when one of my member’s group told that the participants that would
come more than 10. Anyway, we just provide the refreshments for 10 children
only. I never think about unexpected thing like that because I assume the
participants that would come might be less than 10 because at that time Jakarta
was flood stricken anywhere. We were so lucky because we still have a time to
prepare more refreshments for the children.
Apart from that, all the participants were so
enthusiastic in followed our activities. Started from introduction session,
watching motivation videos, games, drawing up to sharing session and we also
gave them a dream sheet as their assessment. Everything run well at first time
but when we wanted them to grouping, problem seemed to appear. The children
tended to grouping and did not want to mingle with the others and also there
was a girl who is avoided by other children. Then, we told them that the group
who is cooperated well each other will get a prize in the end of the game. It
succeed to make them help each other during the game and I was so happy when I
looked them finally could get along each other.
Another challenge that I faced was a fact that
controlling 12 elementary students were extremely difficult. Indeed. Although
they were smaller than us, but their spirit was much much bigger than us. They
even could not be quiet for a moment when we gave instructions or when we
conducted sharing session. They run over to the football field and around
campus. Now, it seems make sense to me when I remembered what has been told by
Bu Mima that ‘they can carried you on the back’. In the sharing session, once I
asked the children why there is no one who wanted to be a teacher and the
children answered because being a teacher will make them tired because the
students are naughty like them. I just laughed at them because they were aware
that they were naughty and hyperactive. Obviously, I learnt something from this
project that I have to re-think again to be an elementary teacher. In short,
that was another incredible moments for me; could sharing, playing and
motivating children. Hopefully their spirits to achieve their dreams will never
get dying down. Thanks God, Thank Bu Mima, Thanks my friends, thanks cutie
children and thanks to me J
