Reflection on the first meeting

First of all, I want to say thanks to god because I meet with miss Mima again in this course. I don’t know why I feel comfortable in her teaching. I just know she is the unique teacher ever in SSE. I learn much from her either from her spoken, behavior, or the material. In this first meeting, I learn about the theory of motivation. She tells what the experts say about motivation. Then I have just known that motivation is not as simple as I know. There so many things that influence motivation. Thus, some experts divided into four categories consist of Behavioral Theories, Humanistic theories, Cognitive and social development, Socio-cultural theories. Behavioral theories discussed about behavior changes on people that is obtained from experiences in environment. For instance, the teachers praising may influence student’s achievement. While Humanistic theory explained that someone has motivation because he wants to fulfill his full potential as human being. For example someone will try to study harder to get scholarship. And cognitive and social cognitive theory tells that everyone has their internal motivation to get self-actualization and to get confidence that they can effectively control their environment. And the last, sociocultural theory focuses on needs of affiliation, relationship, and approval. This theory explain that someone to be accepted and known well by the society.

In the middle of teaching, miss Mima ask some nice question for us. She asks what we know about motivation when we are students in senior high school. And we answer the question with the many interesting answers. It makes me inspired to know what the teacher should do to motivate students. Besides, she also asks us what our motivation to be a teacher is. Then we also answer with so different answer. I think it is interesting to hear the different answer from other friends. But it is mostly same intension that is to educating the world. It so inspire me. and I become more confident and believe that I can to be good teacher for others.
