Teacher is students' role model

Reflection

            Being a teacher is a challenging thing to do. The job of teacher is not only giving lesson to students but also to teach about values to them. Almost a half of students’ time is spent in the school with teachers. Therefore, being a good role model is a crucial thing which must be done by teacher. If teachers are able to be a good role model for students, they will tend to be a good person as well, vice versa.

            After reading the Kathy Class article, I can say that I found a good teacher that I mentioned in that article. Kathy is an example of what a good teacher is. In that article, Kathy tries to show to the student that everything they do in learning process is useful for their life even though it is tough. Not only that, Kathy also tries to dispel students’ paradigm that teacher knows and able to do everything by telling them that they both work hard for learning. By doing that, Kathy makes students’ thought that teacher can only give assignments to students without considering if it will be burden for them, changes in to the thought that Kathy, as their teacher, also work hard to do that.

            What Kathy did in that article shows us how teacher motivate students appropriately. This is a good example for me, as a teacher candidate, how to give motivation to my students later on.
