My 2nd Reflection during MMSEL Class
MMSEL class in
previous meeting explained deficiency needs and one of the topics was about
Maslow’s Hierarchy that consists of five steps which should be filled by every
human in this life. Physiological, safety, love, self-esteem and
self-actualization are needs that designed by Maslow. Those needs should be
filled by humans to reach their goals, especially in learning process.
The learners in
this world absolutely have various motivations that lead them to get their
purpose during learning process. To know what learners’ motivations are, we as
the educators should know what kind of needs that our learners want to fill.
This problem had discussed in my previous MMSEL class.
Humans should
filled Maslow’s Hierarchy step by step from the lowest level ‘Physiological’ up
to the highest one ‘Self-Actualization’
that influenced by ages and professions. According to my experience of
life as human being, I obligatory fill the basic needs i.e. Physiological like
breathing, food, water, sleep and things that should filled by me and others to
survive.
To relate those
levels to education views, teachers should reflect whether students have filled
their needs or they have not. One of needs that should filled to motivate of
learning by students and facilitated by educators is love. The illustration of
this need is students who lack of love or like less mount of friendship tend to
lose of motivation on learning and the effect of it, students will
uncooperative during learning process.
Finally, I am as
the educator should consider students’ needs in learning process to know the
level of students’ motivation so that I can anticipate when my students have no
spirit in studying and My students can apply learning process that has purpose
and meaningful.
