Motivation and Management of Students for Effective Learning

1^st Reflection..

One word in this life that have big influenced for our life is ‘Motivation’. Motivation is requirement. Need for everyone. It is like food, everyone needs it. Everything can be achieves by motivation that have, and of course it followed by the effort. Motivation can be appear from intrinsic or extrinsic.  Intrinsic motivation is motivation that comes from inside our self, example; I have dream to be a doctor, then I will do everything that can get my dream. Extrinsic motivation is motivation that comes from outside our self, example; I have dream to be a doctor because there is someone who inspired me to be a doctor.

Motivation is important in our life, especially for the learner who needs much motivation to face their future. As an educator she/he should motivate their students to be a good learner and to achieve their goals. Teacher’s motivation is giving big influence for the students. So that,  as a teacher he/she should become a good motivator for their students. It means that teacher not only teaches in the class and giving assignment, but also teacher should give motivation for students too. Motivation is not only counseling making conversation face to face but also giving praise is also a simple motivation but can give big impact for student. It is just like in Kathy class’ story which described how teacher motivate the student.

There are some theories that said about motivation that are behavioral, social and cognitive, sociocultural and humanistic. Behavioral theory is focuses on changing behavioral when they were motivated in the environment. Cognitive and social cognitive theory is focuses on attempts to fulfill their full potential as human beings. Sociocultural theory asserts individuals’ participation in the community that can support their abilities. Then, humanistic theory is focuses on hierarchy of needs.

That is the reason why motivation became a subject in this semester I think. Moreover, as teacher candidate in the future must able to motivate students to be good learner. This material is so interesting for me. Learn about motivation is one of my hobby, because it can increase my knowledge and improve my motivation to achieve my dreams.
