Reflection 1: Kathy’s History Class

At the first time I finished read the article about Kathy Brewster’s class I was so amazed with the way she teaches. Although the article did not tell specifically about how she teaches the history lesson to her students, but from the dialogues with her students I could realize it.
Kathy could deliver not only the material but also her spirit in study to her students. Although at first her students might be feel difficult in following her way in teaching because she often asked the students to write. Although she of ten give some challenging tasks, her students would always done the tasks.
Honestly I really want to be a teacher like Kathy who can motivate my students by give them challenge. The most interesting part is her students are challenged and want to try to finish the task. The way that Kathy motivate her students by telling them that they are not compete each other but they do the best for themselves also help her students to be better in every tasks that they face.
In my opinion, the most important thing that the teacher has to do is to transfer the motivation to learn to the students. It is not easy but is possible to be done. As teacher we can start with understanding our students’ characteristic, motivate them in studying by giving challenging task and followed by the support from the teacher.
